Staying In the Know

The primary goal of our campus emergency communications is to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff by quickly disseminating important information about emergencies.

In an emergency on main campus, Texas A&M will post additional emergency updates and announcements at emergency.tamu.edu when they become available. A link to this website will be sent out with all Code Maroon messaging.

If there is an emergency at the Higher Education Center McAllen (HECM), timely information and updates will be posted on this website. A link will be included with each HECM Alert.

Information and updates related to emergencies at Texas A&M Health locations will be posted to this website. A link is included in each HSC Alert message.

The Texas A&M University School of Law website is used for notifying students, faculty, and staff in the event of an emergency. A link to this website will be included in each Texas A&M Law Alert message.

Texas A&M University at Galveston notifies its campus community of emergencies by sending out a Sea Aggie Alert. Information will also be posted on their website.

Further Communications About Emergencies

The Division of Marketing and Communications is responsible for managing emergency communication efforts. They will coordinate these efforts with other university units and government agencies. Marketing and Communications will issue press releases, respond to media inquiries, and maintain and update the main university website.

While Marketing and Communications primarily communicate during an emergency, the University Police Department's Public Information Officer (PIO) or the local Emergency PIO Group may provide additional support. They will collaborate closely with emergency management and response officials to ensure that information released to the campus community and the media is accurate and timely.

For more information about communications planning during a crisis, please refer to Texas A&M University's Emergency Operations Plan.
